- Voice Control
- No expandable storage
- No ethernet port
Have you ever wanted to turn your old TV into a smart TV that can stream Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, and other services. Well the Amazon Fire TV Stick may be the perfect solution for you. The Fire TV Stick is a very small and portable streaming device that plugs directly into your TV’s HDMI port. You also power the stick with a micro USB cable which you can also plug into your TV’s USB port, or you can use the wall adapter included with it.
The Fire TV Stick now includes voice control so you can open apps quicker without having to search for them. You also can ask it questions like Siri such as “Whats the weather like?” I don’t use this feature very often but I do like that they included it in the remote.
One of the reasons I wanted to get the Fire TV Stick was to be able to jailbreak it. Once you jailbreak it you can watch movies for free and do many other cool things. The jailbreaking process is very simple and easy to do. I have never jailbroken anything before and I didn’t have a hard time with it. This is a great tutorial on how to do it that is very simple to follow.
If you just plan on using the Fire TV Stick for things like Netflix and Hulu you will be fine with the storage on the Fire TV Stick. But, if you plan on downloading a lot of apps and games you may be disappointed to know that he Fire TV Stick does not have an option with more storage of a way to expand the storage. So if you want a lot of storage you may want to consider getting the Fire TV where you can expand the storage.
The Fire TV Stick is perhaps one of the cheapest streaming devices I’ve seen so far coming in at $39.99 on Amazon currently. I personally bought the Fire TV Stick on Black Friday for around $29.99 and saved $10. Also, there is an upgraded version of the stick that is less portable called the Fire TV which is more like the Apple TV which is a box. With the Fire TV you get more ports like ethernet, USB, and micro SD. You can purchase the Fire TV Stick here.
